11 Jan The Hat Rooftop. The balcony of Madrid of the Austrians
Welcome again rooftop lover to another of Madrid’s high terraces.
The roof that I’m going to show you this week is one of the few that, despite not having spectacular views, stands out for being an island of tranquility in the center of Madrid. ?
We are going to look at the Madrid of the Austrians from this unique terrace.
The Hat Rooftop. ?
Contenidos del post
1. The building
This hostel is located at 9 Imperial Street in a 19th century building, built in 1885, and very close to the Plaza Mayor. ?
In 2011, and after several years abandoned, it was rehabilitated for hotel use and The Hat, a youth hostel very well located within the Madrid of the Austrians, was opened.
This hostel is a very cute place where you can stay at a very good price and where they have services that many luxury hotels would like.
You can book on their website www.thehatmadrid.com or call them at 917728572.
2. The Hat Rooftop
The Hat rooftop is located on the fifth floor and is open in both winter and summer and is one of the most charming terraces I know of.
It has an interior lounge where you can shelter if it is cold or rainy and an outside terrace area where its greenhouse stands out, ideal for those summer afternoons where a storm can surprise you and you have to take cover. ?
The views aren’t as spectacular as in other rooftops, but they have the charm of being able to see the roofs of Madrid from the Austrians and the dome of the Royal Collegiate Church of San Isidro.
Awesome! ?
The decoration is very cute, with truly idyllic corners… it’s like spending the afternoon in a garden. ?
If you go to The Hat Rooftop, don’t forget to ask for their food menu… you will be surprised at how good everything is, including desserts. ?
3. The opening hours
They are open every day of the year:
Monday to Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Saturdays and Sundays from 1 p.m. until midnight.
Enjoy this wonderful terrace where I hope you feel as comfortable as I do. A secret place that is very difficult to keep.
