11 Jan Picalagartos Sky Bar rooftop, the sky of the Gran Vía.
We have a new rooftop terrace, rooftop lover!
This year has been one of the great rooftop openings in Madrid and Picalagartos Sky Bar Rooftop is one of the most impactful.
This magnificent balcony with views of the Gran Vía is managed by the Azotea Group, to which also belong the emblematic Círculo de Bellas Artes Rooftop and the Forus Barceló Rooftop and of which I have already told you at the time.
This beautiful viewpoint is located on the roof of number 21 on the Gran Vía, where the NH Collection Gran Vía Hotel is located.
Fun fact of this rooftop, it owes its name to one of the settings of the book Luces de Bohemia written by the great Spanish writer Ramon Valle-Inclán. ?

1. Building curiosities
It was designed by one of the architects who devised the original layout of the Gran Vía, José López Sallaberri, and built between 1915 and 1918.
In Spanish Neo-Baroque style, it originally housed the Café del Norte, which occupied several floors, and as an extension of the Almacenes Rodríguez that were located in the attached building. ?
In 1999 the building change its use and became the Hotel Senator Gran Vía. This year the Spanish hotel chain NH has converted it into one of its boutique hotels.
Today you can find the Adidas flagship store in Madrid on the ground floor of this building.
2. Picalagartos Sky Bar Rooftop
Do you want to see the jewel of the crown?
Picalagartos Sky Bar is located on the ninth floor of the NH Gran Vía hotel and is considered one of the best rooftops in Madrid this summer. ?
It opened to the public on May 1, 2018 and has spectacular views, almost 360º of Madrid’s skyline can be seen from here. ?
La mejor vista, la que da a la Gran Vía con la Torre de Telefónica alzándose en un lado. ?
Merece la pena recorrer la azotea para admirar las distintas vistas que tiene.
Pide su carta de coctelería… es muy extensa y te sorprenderá. ?
También puede pedir algo de picar si vas con algo de hambre. Puedes ver aquí la carta.
En esta azotea te pasarás las horas muertas, admirando las vistas de la Gran Vía y disfrutando de la tranquilidad a muchos metros por encima del ruido.
Solo una advertencia… las lámparas son preciosas, pero están muy bajas. Cuidado con los golpes (leves) con ellas. ?

De lunes a jueves de 17 a 1
De viernes a domingo de 17 hasta las 2:30
