11 Jan Palacio de Cibeles terrace, the most monumental rooftop
Hello again, rooftop lover.
Today I’m going to show you one of the rooftops with the best views in Madrid.
If when I spoke about the rooftop of the Círculo de Bellas Artes you were impressed with the views, the Terrace of the Cibeles Palace will also leave you breathless. 😍
The Cibeles seen from this perspective is something really worth seeing.😉
I’m going to show you one of the most beautiful skies in Madrid. Are you ready?
1. Brief history of the building
The Telecommunications Palace, also called Cibeles Palace since 2011, is an architectural complex designed by the architects Antonio Palacios and Joaquín Otamendi. 🧐
This palace has two white-fronted buildings and it’s located in one of the nerve centers of Madrid since it stands on one of the sides of the Plaza de Cibeles.
It was officially inaugurated on March 14, 1919 and begins its operation as a modern distribution center for mail, telegraphs and telephones, until it fell into disuse at the beginning of the 21st century. 🤔
In 1993 it was declared a Site of Cultural Interest, with the category of Monument.
In 2007, and after a major reform, it’s incorporated into the municipal heritage and became the “CentroCentro”, cultural center and headquarters of the Madrid City Council. 😉
2. Palacio de Cibeles Terrace
If you want to go to this terrace, you must access the building through the main door. The terrace is located on the sixth floor of the Palacio de Cibeles. 😲
On the same floor is Palacio de Cibeles restaurant, with the incredible cuisine of chef Adolfo Muñoz, who offers Mediterranean cuisine on his menu. You can find the entrance to this restaurant leaving the elevator on the left hand side.
The access on the right hand side is exclusively to go to the terrace. I warn you that you have to pay an entry of 6€ per person, that will be deducted from the total of what you consume on the rooftop. 🤨
Palacio de Cibeles Terrace is a rooftop to enjoy all year round and it has radiators and blankets for winter and water vaporizers for summer. If it rains the rooftop is closed. 😍
This place is very big and it has two environments:
There are high tables with stools in the viewpoint for those who want to enjoy the views in the front row.
There’s an area with many sofas in which you can enjoy your drink without views, but it’s more comfortable.😉
The views are awesome and you’ll be able to see, not only the Plaza de Cibeles but also part of the Madrid Skyline: the Colón Towers, the Metropolis Building, the headquarters of the Instituto Cervantes, the Telefónica Building, and much more. 🤩
If you love Madrid and you like photography, this will be your place, because you’ll take lots of photos. 📷
The Palacio de Cibeles terrace is mainly to have drinks but they have rations to share on the menu that will be brought from the restaurant. 🍸
Prices on this roof are high, but you can treat yourself for a day. It’s worthing to have a drink with these views at your feet.😍
3. The opening hours
Cibeles Palace terrace is open all year round and its opening hours are:
From Sunday to Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m.
Friday and Saturday from 1:00 p.m. 02:30 a.m.
And remember that, if it rains you won’t be able to enjoy this magnificent rooftop it isn’t open because this terrace is uncovered. ☔
If you want to book lunches or dinners you can do so by sending an email to recepcioncibeles@adolfo-toledo.com but you have to know that you have to consume a minimum amount.🤔
This information can be found on its website https://palaciodecibeles.com/terraza-cibeles 😉
Well, you already have another option to see Madrid from another view for this weekend. 😉
If you’ve already been to Palacio de Cibeles terrace you can leave your review in the comments, so you can encourage others to enjoy it. 😎
You like this post? You can value it, if you want, with as many stars as you think it deserves. ⭐
Until next time, rooftop lover! 😘
