Hello rooftop lover! Will you come with me to enjoy the next rooftop?

This week I´m going to share with you one of the best-kept secrets of the Gran Vía and I promise that it’ll be very worthwhile.

Welcome to Sky 44 rooftop, Callao’s voayeur. ?

1. The building

This building originally intended for shops and houses, was commissioned by the Count of Godó, and was built between 1922 and 1925 and designed by the architect Teodoro de Anasagasti Algán. ?

 

 

In April 1927, the apartments for housing were converted for hotel use and became the Valencia and Continental hotels that occupied several floors each

Nowadays there are several very good quality hostels, including those of Gran Vía 44 Group (Gran Vía 44 Hostel, Josefina Hostel, Carmen Hostel and, soon, Charlotte Hostel), and to which the roof that I’m going to show you.

2. Sky 44 Rooftop

Someone told me about this rooftop in late February 2018 and I knew right away that I wanted to go take a look.

It was love at first sight! ?

They have only been open for a short time, but it has already become one of my favorite roofs in its own right. ?

 

 

The atmosphere is very nice and familiar, you can spend hours off in front of one of its views having a drink ? and enjoying the views it offers.

At first it wasn’t as crowded as other roofs, but this past summer it has become very popular.

To get there follow the signs and don’t be scared by the appearance of the building inside or the nooks and crannies where you have to go.

 

 

Take the elevator to the 9th floor and take a small flight of stairs so you´ll arrive to Sky 44 rooftop, ready to offer us vertigo views. ?

 

 

In this restaurant they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, all at a good price and very yummy. ?

 

 

You can see their menu on their website so you can know what you can eat before going. ?

 

 

Wherever you look the views are amazing. Its large windows overlook one of the widest views of Madrid’s financial area and the entire Malasaña neighborhood.

 

3. Sky 44 Rooftop viewpoints

This rooftop has two terraces.

You can find the first entering at Sky 44 Rooftop on the left hand side. This terrace has a medium size and its views overlook the Madrid financial area.

This terrace is awesome to celebrate small events, birthdays or simply to admire its views.

 

 

 

The jewel of the crown is the second terrace located on the right hand side. Comfortable, pleasant and with incredible views, not only of Callao, but also of the entire downtown area of Madrid. ?

Events can be held on this rooftop and you can’t miss their Friday parties. They are great! ?

4. Contact and opening hours

t´s not necessary to book if you want to go to lunch or dinner but, if you are a large group it is better to do it. You can call them at 915218131 and they will be happy to assist you. ?

They open every day of the year at the following times:

Monday to Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Thursday from 8 a.m. until midnigth.

Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2 a.m.

Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 11 p.m.
